Cyrus Kamini, Board Member

Cyrus Kamini has been a sober member of the Charleston Community since April 15, 2015, and has overcome many obstacles in his long battle with Substance Use Disorder (SUD).

β€œIt is when I finally conceded that I had no power in the fight and that there was a power that could relieve me outside of myself, I finally had found a solution that worked.”

As a recommended course of action, it was strongly suggested that Cyrus work a twelve-step program to the best of his ability. It was in this process that Cyrus found a new way to live and a passion for helping others out of the pit of despair and homelessness he once found himself in.

Cyrus has, over the years, run some Street Initiatives with the intention of meeting people on the streets and helping them make decisions to enter into detox and rehabilitation facilities and as of recent, has completed his training and is now a State Licensed PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST.

Personally and professionally, Cyrus has been able to become a successful father to his now college-bound son and find the means to support him and help others. Cyrus, having purchased and rehabilitated numerous buildings both within and outside the state at the right time, has been able to secure the means to live and continue this important work, now organized under the umbrella of Step1.
